Another hidden requirement relates to cost; this should be less than $200 or so. UWA will probably reimburse me if I keep the reciepts.
Parts will be sourced locally or courier delivered in order to meet the tight deadline.
The design needs to be rugged and reliable, but doesn't need to look good.
If possible, already owned materials will be used. Waste will disposed of in an environmentally sustainable way. Renewable resources will be used where possible.
I am the only resource involved in this project. I only have to make sure that I have the required skills.
Daily progress will be important for the success of this project. There is no time to lose in order to hit this deadline.
